The Dependability of Gas Fireplaces Throughout the years, gas fireplaces have remained a popular choice for adding warmth and ambiance to a home. Natural gas is by far one of the best available fuel sources as reserves have been discovered around the world, making it cheap and easy to access. Gas relieves a substantial amount of pressure on forests that constantly have to be regrown to fill the heating needs of an expanding population. Chances are, you probably already have gas appliances in your home such as the furnace, oven and possibly your dryer. As long as you have one or more of these, gas fireplaces are easy to install because you already have a pipeline present. In terms of decor, these types of fireplaces are available in a vast assortment of designs from contemporary to traditional to eclectic and even western. They can be free-standing or mounted to a wall, providing decorating options of a hearth or added masonry or stonework as well. No Need for Firewood With a gas fireplace, you never have to worry about collecting, buying, chopping or stacking firewood. With a traditional fireplace, even if you have firewood delivered to you, you still have to move it and deal with storing it which can grow mold, attract bugs and take up space. Not to mention, gas fireplaces are environmentally-friendly because you are not polluting the air with toxic fumes or depleting forests. When you purchase wood, you also need to consider the animals that are affected by the process as well. Gas fireplaces eliminate these concerns. Low Maintenance Since there is virtually nothing that is being burned other than gas, these types of fireplaces require very little maintenance. You don't have to deal with scooping ashes or scrubbing soot when you have a gas fireplace. This is probably one of the main reasons that consumers prefer gas-burning fireplaces over the others. Safety While burning a bonfire can be enjoyable while you are at camping, do you want to deal with constantly maintaining your fire while you are trying to relax? Not to mention, wood can provide sparks that can ignite a fire if you're not careful. With a gas fireplace, all you have to do is turn it on, ignite and enjoy. These are also voted as the safer option if you have young children in the house who are naturally intrigued by fire. Additionally, many newer models come with a remote control which is not only convenient, it allows you to turn off a flame fast if you need to.
